Barbra, can you hear me?

I am sure how everyone has heard how Barbra Streisand is an ultra liberal communist who is pregnant with the anti christ (even at her age). She also has a mouth that produces music only fit for God to hear, but a mouth that also gets her into trouble. I took a peek at her website earlier tonight, because I'm a recent fan, (yeah, I'm falling into the cliche, I know) and found all sorts of goodies! She is extremely vociferous in her distaste for the Bush administration and his policies. The site contains personal statements, transcripts of speeches she has made at political functions, and an impressive listing of articles. From what I have seen so far, her website is dedicated mostly to her political dissent. Definitely worth checking out:

Bush=Satan.com --- I mean BarbraStreisand.com

"If there was ever a time in history to impeach a President of the United States, it would be now. In my opinion, it is two years too late." Pretty bold Ms. Streisand!

Oh Jimmy

Shannon gave me Jimmy's book for Christmas, and it is truly amazing. Everything in his book makes so much sense. He demonstrates how the antagonistic nature of the Religious Right combined with the politicians who cater to their wants creates a very hostile environment for groups/individuals who don't fit into their norm to which they have defined. Bush wraps himself in the banner of God and Christianity, yet he rarely follows the teachings of Christ. Issues ranging from foreign policy (not necessarily defense, but international family planning and such), poverty, equal rights, the environment, etc...

Jimmy's chapter on science and religion is truly amazing. Very to the point and articulate, he describes how he has combined his Christian roots in the bible with modern scientific research to arrive at a conclusion that thankfully doesn't fit into one of the "black or white" sides that our current political climate has created. He is sitting in the grey area that violates the bipolar principles that political gadflys refuse to occupy. Why do we have to pick one side, there are 15 sides to an issue. Not just one. This is not just a Republican thing, but Democrats engage in this mind constricting behavior as well.

So many good ideas come from Jimmy's book. It is a fast read that is so valuable.

  • Happy Christmas

Christmas was good today! I visited with family and got to know my cousins Trevor and Lauren (ages 6 and 3). I haven't been around them hardly at all because of going away to school and a family feud that is no more. I think a new feud started today. My sister and cousin Dakota got into it over a power scooter and it turned into a he said she said type thing and my Aunt acted ridiculous so we all fussed. The exchange ended when my aunt hung up on me. Oh well, time will heal things.

This winter break has been great. I have talked to my close friend Ali about a lot of things, mostly political/religious of course. I have truly enjoyed our conversations. When something happens in D.C. we get on the phone or online and bitch about whatever Bush is doing to screw up our country.

I need to start applying for internships and all that jazz. Time is ticking for the summer session.

    Happy Christmas and Happy Holidays

The next president could be a Jew!

OK, here are some links for Senator Feingold. He's appealing. It appears that Hillary has some competition.

My BF Shannon bought me With God on Their Side (I asked for it) for my birthday last July. From the look of the cover, I had no doubt that it was going to be a scathing, intellectually damaging account of the Religious Right and the politicians that succumb to their guerrilla tactics. Well, I was sadly mistaken. At best, it is a history of the R.R. and their influence on the U.S. political system 1960s - present. The author dedicates the book to his "traditional family." Hopefully that was a smidge of sarcasm. He also wrote a book glorifying America's savior. Thinking Christ? Thought wrong... Need a hint as to who could fill this post? Try a racist who made anti-semitic remarks to Nixon, which was audible on the infamous Nixon tapes. If you guessed Billy Graham, you have just earned 4 Angel points, redeemable upon your ascension into heaven, should you qualify to enter.

That was a ramble if I have ever witnessed (witnessed, lol) one and "guerrilla tactics" might have been a tad strong. But you know us sinners- We have to find something to fill the void. Joking aside. I'm an Episcopalian (recently confirmed, still accepting gifts), but the Religious Right is dangerous. They lack tolerance for anyone different from their uniformed image and they are constantly trying to infringe upon the U.S.'s separation of church and state.

Transitioning from moral degredation to environmental degredation--- ANWR: Brace yourself, the Bush administration is invading. To be fair, the law has been on the books for something like 8 decades allowing for drilling in the refuge, but come on! The oil gained from the exploitation of that beautiful Alaskan land (I was born in Alaska, so I am not just bullshitting on its pristine beauty) is only supposed to reduce American dependence on foreign oil like 2%. Disclaimer: I heard that figure on Hannity and Colmes tonight so it might be wholly and utterly unfounded, but it helps my argument. See there is the difference between Hannity and myself. I atleast include a disclaimer when I carelessly report facts.

Since it is holiday break and I am going to Europe this summer, I thought it would be responsible to get a job until second semester. The vast financial and spiritual rewards (rolls eyes) of my old gig at Life Line Medical Equipment lured me back. The office has been in shambles since I left in May 2004. They needed my expertise. Aside from my magic touch and motivational cheerleading, the job's real duties came back to me relatively easy.

More on the Europe trip later.

May all of you have a Merry Christmas in which the Lord fills your life with the warmth of the season: Unless of course you are gay, black, gay and black (then you're really screwed), poor, pro-choice, or progressive.
